Learn to Swim
Welcome to Artemis Aquatics Learn to Swim Holiday Program, designed to develop safe and capable swimmers who love the water.
Autumn Holiday Program
As the Autumn Holiday Program has now come and gone, we did a short and sweet 4-day intensive week. It was great to see so many familiar faces (and new ones) on pool deck showing up consistently to build and refine their skills over the break!
Students were challenged with a 45-minute class instead of the usual 30 minutes. Allowing for an extra 15 minutes spent on the level specific skill development.
For our level 1 and 2’s this rotation was for both Freestyle and Backstroke and for levels 3 and up we looked at continued development of underwater work and dolphin kick.
With a bit more time spent in the water, students were able to spend added time down the deep end. Homing in important Water Safety skills as well as giving them a chance to work outside of their comfort zones, in regard to depth and independence. This also provided a chance for students to re-enforce skills learnt in shallower water.
Holiday programs are a great way for swimmers to maintain consistency over term breaks. For those looking to accelerate their progress, these intensives can make a noticeable difference. While one 30-minute lesson per week across an 8–9-week term builds a solid foundation, an intensive week can help push students forward in their consistency, endurance, and technique.
We hope to welcome you at our next holiday program week, and we will see you all back on pool deck very soon!
About
Just keep swimming!
We are looking forward to running a 1 week 4-day Learn to Swim holiday intensive. All Learn to Swim holiday lessons are 45 minutes, except for Stroke Advancement lessons which run for the usual 60 minutes. We will include a 15-minute specialisation. For levels 1 and 2 this Autumn it will be rotation; Why? To keep the body balanced and streamlined in the water. Making it easier to breathe and allowing for smoother more efficient arm movements when introduced.
For our levels 3 and up we will be focusing on underwater work and dolphin kick. Why? One of the fastest most efficient ways to move through the water! Maximising speed of the walls. A good skill to have to whip out at swimming carnivals!
It is going to be a great week, so we hope to see you there!
